Opus
Our Awning of the Year must be the Isabella Opus, which the company launched as part of the celebrations to mark its Golden Jubilee. The Opus is a full awning which comes with the company's CarbonX frame and is designed to fit caravans with ground-to-ground measurements ranging from 850cm to 1175cm (27ft 10in-37ft 8in). It has a number of features that make it unique and lift it above the competition. These include the new IsaFix frame clamp, and windows in the front panel which vary in number depending on the size of the awning. Additionally, they comprise a combination of horizontal and vertical panes, while the curtains are horizontal, venetian slats sliding on vertical cords reach from above the windows to the ground. At present, only one colour combination is available.

Portico Plus
The compact corner of the caravan market has been disregarded by some manufacturers, which puts the Corona Club 362 at an advantage. It has an excellent specification which belies its compact dimensions, meaning that couples who don't want to tow a very large caravan or drive a large car don't have to skimp on the frills when touring. Compass has extensively reworked the Corona range this year. Outside, stylish metal trim, new front and rear panels and new decals make it look very sharp, while inside, the new Corona trim and cabinet work really lift it. This compact end-kitchen layout may not be as popular as it once was, but the Corona Club proves that it still has a lot to offer.

PDQ Excel
The unique PDQ Excel porch awning fits permanently into the awning channel on the caravan. Once the bag has been unzipped the awning and its frame are taken out and put up in a couple of minutes. Allow another five minutes for pegging down and fitting the guylines and the job's done. All the materials used in its manufacture are lightweight, resulting in a total weight of around 10kg. Colours: green, blue, burgundy.

Prestige
The five-piece SunnCamp Prestige awning fits caravans with ground-to-ground dimensions ranging from 725cm to 1100cm (23ft 9in-36ft 1in). It costs considerably less than many of its rivals but that doesn't mean it's cheap and cheerful. Just the opposite in fact: it is very good value for money and is available with either a steel or an aluminium frame. Colours: green, blue, burgundy.
