Motorhomes might be a better suited to off-road use than caravans (at least judging by the Jeep Action Camper recently featured at our sister site, Practical Motorhome), but there are still options for ‘van owners looking for a pitch that’s far from the beaten track. Or campsite.

Moby1 Expedition Trailers custom builds pod caravans (or ‘teardrop trailers’, in US parlance) for exactly this kind of camping, with coil spring suspension and multi-axis couplers for jolt-free towing over seriously uneven ground.

The usual array of interior options are also provided, including running hot and cold water, shower (albeit of the outdoor variety), portable toilet, air conditioning and the essential generator with supplementary solar panels — there’s unlikely to be a mains hook up where these are ‘vans are designed to go, after all.
