Anyone who’s ever been unable to choose between a caravan campsite and a hotel when holidaying abroad might do well to take their next break in Berlin.

Rather than opt for boring old individual rooms, the new Hüttenpalast boutique hotel in the Neukölln workers’ quarter uses caravans pitched inside a converted vacuum cleaner factory.

The idea was to preserve the building’s original interior architecture and to create a hotel where the guests could meet each other, rather than just lock themselves away in total privacy.

The hotel currently has three caravans and three huts, all with en suite bathrooms and positioned around a communal ‘garden’ area with a small café. Although the caravan acoomdation is luxurious, the ‘pitches’ do look a little spartan, but accommodation only costs €30 (around £25) a night.
