KIA HAS LAUNCHED a new range-topping Sportage 4×4 with more power and equipment.

The KX-4, priced from £27,195, has a more powerful version of the 2.0 CRDi engine, uprated to 181bhp and 282lb.ft of torque. That’s for a car with a manual gearbox. The automatic version has 7lb.ft more.

The existing 2.0 CRDi has 134bhp and 236lb.ft of torque.

Kia has yet to publish a kerbweight for the car, but don’t expect a big change from the less powerful Sportage diesel 4×4 which has a maximum kerbweight of 1754kg (manual). That gives an 85% match figure of 1491kg.

The combined fuel economy figure is 46.3mpg (39.2mpg for the auto) and carbon dioxide emissions are 158g/km (189g/km for the auto)

Go for the range-topping KX-4 and you can expect plenty of kit. Full leather upholstery, 18-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass, sat-nav, xenon lights, automatic lights and wipers, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, heated front and rear seats, cruise control, iPod connectivity, colour reversing camera and a seven-speaker stereo are included in the price.
