29 October – A lady in waiting

Chillingham Castle hosts ghost tours all year round, but don’t miss its Halloween event. The castle is unchanged since Henry VII’s time, and Lady Mary’s ghost is rumoured to walk the halls.

21-31 October – Going underground

Halloween Fest, by Dusk Till Dawn Events, brings lots of opportunities to visit haunted venues across the UK, including Drakelow Tunnels, an abandoned BMW factory turned WWII nuclear bunker!

27-29 October – Night at a museum

Many locations across the UK will open their doors after hours as part of Museums at Night. It’s a new way to see fascinating objects; venues include Osterley House, reputedly home to ‘the lady in white’.

October-February – Spooks across the border

Pop over to Wales for Llancaiach Fawr Manor’s ghost tour season. Built in 1550, it is said to be the most haunted house in Wales. But be warned, you must book if you’re planning on visiting at Halloween.

Stay at Pen-y-Fan Caravan Park.

All year round – Soul searching

The Black Swan in Devizes is among the UK’s most haunted pubs, and the rest of the town has its fair share of spooks, too. Take a night walk with John Girvan to hear the stories behind the lingering souls.
