You will find the autoroutes quieter than British motorways, with rest areas and service stations – les aires – appearing every few miles. There are also plenty of top-quality campsites around the main cities for those who don’t want to tackle town traffic.
Thanks to their proximity to Calais, towns such as Bruges, Ghent and Brussels make Belgium the ideal destination for a short break.
