This site occupies a sheltered position in a natural bowl in the heart of the Peak District. Within walking distance of Castleton and all its amenities, Losehill is the perfect base for exploring the area. The site has an intimate feel, with naturally-screened areas. Also, you'll never have to walk far to a water tap or waste-disposal point. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and many visitors seem to be regulars who return to the site again and again. There is a small adventure playground in the middle of the site but, according to parents, many children prefer to make their own entertainment by building dens in the woods nearby and paddling in the stream. There is one central shower-and-toilet block, of the usual high Caravan Club standard. Because attractions and open countryside are so close by, many people walk or cycle out of the front gate. There is a small, local store and post office in Castleton, and a decent-sized Spar in Hope, which is open until 10pm.
