Great escapes to Derbyshire

Explore peaks and dales, caverns and caves
Derbyshire has always been a popular tourist destination because it boasts such a wonderful variety of scenery. Within its boundaries lies a great swathe of the Peak District, making it a Mecca for walkers And there are plenty of other attractions, too: from the caverns of Castleton to pretty villages and numerous stately homes, Derbyshire is a place that offers something of interest for everyone – whatever their taste. Its more famous visitors have included poet Lord Byron, who declared it “a county with everything but the sea”. Legendary outlaw Robin Hood is said to have ties with the picturesque village of Hathersage, and in Pride and Prejudice Jane’s Austen’s Elizabeth falls in love with Derbyshire’s Pemberley (thought to be inspired by Chatsworth House) shortly before falling for its brooding owner, Mr Darcy. So why not let Derbyshire cast its spell over you?
