| Your essential guide to caravanning to Shropshire |

Shropshire is most famous for its industrial past. From the iron bridge that gives the nearby town its name to the museums dedicated to the area's hard-working history, there are many reminders that the county was the engine room of the Industrial Revolution.
But there's more to Shropshire than its once booming factories. This is one of England's least populated counties, which leaves lots of open space to explore. The complex geology means there are many faces to the countryside, from the green and gentle slopes of Wenlock Edge to the rugged heathland of Long Mynd and the Stiperstones.
Walkers should be sure to pay the Wrekin a visit. This
darkly wooded hill is one of Shropshire's most famous landmarks. The Carding Mill Valley is another great area for hikers, while the many quiet lanes that criss-cross the countryside make it a haven for cyclists.
There's much for families to enjoy, too, especially the museums of the Ironbridge Gorge, which will appeal to youngsters and grown-ups alike. Kids will love the Blists Hill Victorian Town and the hands-on Enginuity exhibition, where they can generate electricity with flowing water or use a giant X-ray machine. Youngsters who prefer animals to machinery will have a wonderful day out at the Acton Scott Historic Working Farm, where heavy horses work the land and rare livestock breeds are raised.
There's so much to do in Shropshire you'll want to return there for your holidays again and again.
