Open March-October
When we visited this exquisite Norfolk site, we felt as if we had wandered into someone's back garden, or even onto the set of The Enchanted Garden. Granted it was midweek, but there was but one unit behind the walls, and the reception (a shed) was unmanned. Visitors are instructed to site themselves where they please and you can purchase basic groceries there by following the honour system, and dropping your payment into the cashbox.
Clematis climbs rustic, red-brick walls, and voracious shrubbery engulfs the serene garden. A belt of large beech trees shade the friendly, tranquil site.
The toilet-and-shower building, which was recently refurbished,
is well-designed and perfectly maintained; facilities for the disabled and domestic sanitary facilities are available.
A maximum of two dogs is allowed per unit.
A big variety of activities awaits you along the nearby coast, including seal watching, and the woodland offers its own array of things to do, such as horse riding and visiting stately homes. You can also see the Thursford steam engines and the Langham glass factory. If the basic groceries at reception do not suffice, the town of Docking is four miles away.
