Little Barney Lane, Barney, Fakenham, Norfolk NR21 0NL

Open 1 March-4 January
This immaculately presented site benefits from a tranquil setting and beautiful landscaping. There are 60 shingle pitches on neatly mown grass, set out in three main areas on different levels. Most benefit from the shelter of trees and shrubs; mature trees are scattered about the largest area. A particularly lovely spot is 'the Dell', a small collection of pitches at the bottom of a bank and surrounded by foliage, creating a particularly private enclave. Some of the pitches on the site are on a slight slope, so make sure you have chocks.
The site is well located for north-coast beaches and other attractions, but if you don't want to go off site, you'll find everything you need here. The shop is more of a mini-market and sells caravan spares. A smart on-site restaurant is open Friday and Saturday, and Monday to Saturday in high season. The site's single-lane approach road has only a couple of passing places, so the owners avoid clashes by insisting on check-out by 11am and arrivals after 1pm. It's the sort of well-considered arrangement that is typical of the care with which the site is run throughout.
