GREAT ESCAPES
Great escapes to the Peak District

Introduction
The Derbyshire Peak District contains some of the most challenging landscapes in England, landscapes which have formed the character of its people, just as the aeons of wind and rain chiselled shape and beauty into the rugged land. In this Great Escape, we take you first under England’s first national park, and then over it, to discover its incredible geological and human history. Through the tours you will see some of the finest walking country in the whole of the land, and experience wonderful views and unique natural heritage, during a spectacular 11-mile trail. Once you have seen how the land has shaped the people through the ages, we can show you how the people then shaped and worked the land, in centuries of industry, from Roman lead mines to canals, railways and mills. Whatever you do in the Peak District, you cannot help but learn and grow to love the rugged landscapes.
