USEFUL WELSH PHRASES
In many parts of North Wales, Welsh is still spoken as a first language and it's always appreciated if visitors take a stab at the native tongue. Here are some translations and some pointers on pronunciation:
Good morning bore da (boray dar), Good day dydd da (deeth dar), Good night nos da (norse dar), How are you? sut mae? (shoe my), Cheers hwyl (hoil), Thanks dioch (dee-ock), Good da (dar)
And the one everyone knows... Good health! iechyd da! (yacky dar!) |

FOOT AND MOUTH RESTRICTIONS
More attractions are re-opening every day, including some footpaths in Snowdonia National Park. For an up-to-date list of open attractions and guidance for visitors to the area, see the Wales Tourist Board website at www.visitwales.com or call their helpline on 080 8010 0000.
North Wales Tourism has its own website at www.nwt.co.uk, or call 01492 531731. Another useful site is www.maff.gov.uk for a list of infected areas.
Precautions It's important to avoid contact with deer and farm animals. Keep dogs on a lead. Cars and caravans have been designated low risk carriers of the virus but use disinfectant to clean your boots and vehicles' tyres. |
