Practical Caravan reviews the new 2014 Adria Astella Glam Edition range featuring quirky layouts, stunning interior design and an opening panoramic sunroof

Adria is the only caravan maker on the continent which manufactures tourers for the UK volume market, and produces entry-level, mid-range and upmarket ranges. In 2012 there was a lone Astella, before the Rio Grande was added to the 2013 line-up as a reasonably priced, stylish van with an unconventional layout.

Now re-named the 'Astella Glam', this wide-bodied caravan has been revamped to capitalise on the 'glamping' trend. It is eye-catching with similar quirky floorplans.

Among other upmarket caravans launching for the 2014 season, the Slovenian van stands out amongst the British makes with its silver exterior, darker veneers and sleeker lines. The panoramic sunroof is also a wow factor addition that some upmarket vans have missed out on.

The Practical Caravan experts thought that these 2014 Adria Astellas looked very eye-catching on the road. These single-axle caravans also benefit from an opening panoramic sunroof, like the Adora range, with a silver exterior and chrome-effect grabhandles, stylish light clusters and alloys.

Hotel-luxe interior

The interior is dramatically different from most caravans on the market, with a hotel-style glamour in the dark wood veneer furniture, leather upholstery and chrome-look detailing.

The lighting has been given the luxury treatment with LED ambient lighting throughout and a lamp on a chrome hinged arm over the lounge instead of traditional ceiling lights.

The distinctive L-shaped front kitchen has three in-line burners, like the rest of Adria's 2014 range, plus a 190-litre fridge and plenty of workspace. This unusual layout sets it apart from many of its upmarket counterparts.
