Two of the UK’s leading caravan manufacturers, Coachman and Elddis, have today released a joint statement announcing that former Sales and Marketing Director Martin Henderson is leaving The Explorer Group to take on a new role at Coachman as the firm’s Managing Director.

A well-known figure within the industry, Martin first joined Elddis in 1995, before moving on to Lunar Caravans in 2007 as Sales and Marketing Director. He only returned to The Explorer Group – manufacturer of Elddis, Compass, Xplore and Buccaneer touring caravans, along with the Autoquest, Accordo and Aspire ranges of Elddis motorhomes – on 25 March 2013, taking up the same position.

Now Martin is to make the move south from County Durham to Hull, as he joins the team at the Coachman Caravan Company from 18 August alongside Executive Chairman Jim Hibbs, fulfilling a long-held ambition to take the reins of a major UK manufacturer. Refreshingly, both firms have expressed their full support for the move.

At the same time, The Explorer Group has taken the opportunity to give one of its long-term servants the chance to take on a senior strategic role. Rob Quine, Managing Director of Elddis, has announced that Spencer Davies has been promoted to the position of National Sales Manager, with effect from tomorrow, 1 July 2014. Spencer has worked within The Explorer Group since 2003.

“This is a great time to be working with all of our touring caravan and motorhome dealers,” said a delighted Spencer. “Our radical product development, together with our unique SoLiD construction, has given us huge momentum and sales growth. My target is to deliver further growth long into the future.”

With all corners of the caravan industry working towards the release of their 2015 model launches, both Coachman and Elddis will be hoping that their new appointments help the growth and development of their brands into the new touring season.
