Check out the best new caravans for sale right now, as the winners of Practical Caravan's Tourer of the Year Awards 2017 are revealed – read on!

The dazzling new Compass Camino 660 is Practical Caravan’s Tourer of the Year 2017!

This new-for-2017, blue-hued caravan was crowned the overall winner at last night’s Tourer of the Year Awards at Hampton Manor near Birmingham, having scooped the ‘Best luxury tourer’ prize earlier in the evening.

Relaunched for 2017, the Compass range blasts into the new season with a bold new look and, in the Camino 660, the year’s hottest layout. Its central washroom and a rear transverse island bed layout helps make this a truly indulgent caravan.

“Nothing says luxury like a twin-axle destined for a couple: instantly we are talking masses of living space, a decent-sized, well-appointed kitchen and, most likely, a fixed bed,” said our expert judging team. “The Camino 660 delivers on all counts and, what’s more, it does it with style and good cheer.”

The Explorer Group’s Sales Director, Spencer Davies, attended the awards ceremony to collect the biggest trophy of the night from Practical Caravan’s Group Editor Alastair Clements.

“Our winner has enough significant improvements to make this just about the perfect luxury caravan for a couple,” added Alastair. ”Throw in the fact that it’s one of the best-looking caravans on sale and you get a hugely desirable tourer, and a thoroughly worthy winner.”

Only caravans for sale that are new or were significantly revised for the 2017 season were eligible for consideration, alongside last year’s winners, our benchmarks in each category.

Whether you tour solo, as a twosome or with a family, and whatever your budget, we’re confident that you will find your perfect touring partner from our judges’ top picks.

Three caravans were shortlisted in each of the seven awards categories, the winner of each division put forward to do battle for overall glory. From couples’ vans to family tourers, from brilliant bargains to terrific twin-axles, we’ve reviewed and rated them all – these are the best of the best.

It wasn't just the Camino 660 that shone in the 'Best luxury tourer' category, as the Sterling Eccles 635 and Coachman Laser 620 were both highly commended.

While at the other end of the caravanning spectrum, the fab, six-berth Sprite Freedom 6 starred in our 'Best budget tourer' class. Its sister van, the Sprite Freedom 6 TD, also grabbed a highly commended award in this division, as did the Xplore 304.

In addition, we revealed our number one awning, shared our top innovation for 2017 and much more.
