A new industry-backed show has been announced for autumn 2011 to compete with the International Caravan and Motorhome show.

The NCC Motorhome and Caravan Show is being run in late October by a new subsidiary of the National Caravan Council. The cost of the new venture is being underwritten by Bailey, Coachman, Elddis, Lunar, Swift and Trigano group. As well as the major manufacturers, the Caravan Club and the Camping and Caravanning Club are backing the new show.

With the NCC running things, the idea is to keep money generated from caravan and motorhome sales inside the industry. This in turn potentially frees up more money for new product development and improvement.

Exciting times for the industry

“This is the most exciting and positive change for the industry,” says John Lally, Director General of the NCC. “This new show will be run by the industry, for the good of the industry. Exhibitors will benefit from greatly reduced rates and there will be significantly lower show ticket prices for the consumer.”

Peter Smith, Chairman of Swift Group, says: “Swift is 100% committed to this new show and I am thrilled that the industry has taken control of its own destiny.”

Bailey of Bristol chairman Patrick Howard agreed, saying: “It’s fantastic that the industry has come together to offer a truly co-ordinated marketing effort to drive higher consumer traffic to the show. This in turn benefits the industry and the visiting public will pay lower entry prices.”
