Overview

THE APACHE MILANO is a lightweight two-section tunnel porch awning with an aluminium frame and is available in three colour combinations, burgundy/grey, blue/grey, and green/grey.

The ground dimensions are 300cm wide x 250cm deep and it is designed to fit caravans with heights ranging from 235cm to 250cm. The awning, which weighs in at around 18kg, is ideal for weekend and short breaks when you don’t want the bother of erecting a full awning.

The Apache’s roof, sides and front panels are made from polyester and the skirt from PVC-coated polyester. There is a door in each side panel and a large window in each of the two front panels, all of which helps to make the Milano light and airy.

Sun canopy capability

The front panels can be unzipped and rolled up or turned into a sun canopy when used with two optional poles. There is a triangular insect screen in each side panel together with a zipped cover.

The frame comprises 28mm diameter curved aluminium poles, which are zipped into sleeves in the canvas. Each pole consists of a number of cord-linked members. Two roof poles fit to the main frame poles to tension the awning across its width.

We particularly liked the fact that the two roof poles lock in position automatically as soon as they are extended; there’s no clamping system to contend with. To release the tension you simply press a button on the end of the larger pole and push both poles together. The awning pegs down internally – a small point perhaps, but it helps to keep you dry if you have to erect it when it is raining.

High quality doesn't come cheap

The Milano is not cheap when compared to some other lightweight tunnel awnings but its obvious quality is worth the extra as it will certainly outlast much of the competition. It isn’t necessarily an awning we would use for extended short breaks and holidays.

But for those times – especially early and late in the season – when you want somewhere to store your wet gear, walking boots, etc, it could prove ideal. And during the summer, it should provide sufficient space to allow you to sit outdoors, but in the shade.
