It’s easy to see how Old Oaks Touring Park has been awarded the title of the best caravan park for 2022, as well as being the Regional Winner for Somerset, Avon and Wiltshire.

It provides a five-star experience, offering excellent facilities and customer service. Found near Glastonbury, the adults-only site is ideally situated for all the area has to offer, including the festival, the Tor and the Chalice Well.

On-site, you can fish in a beautiful lake and take in the wildlife, or if you’re touring with a canine companion, why not take them to the exercise area, complete with dog-shower? You can also see more brilliant canine campsites in our round-up of dog friendly caravan parks.

Available accommodation ranges from touring pitches and glamping cabins to shepherd huts and cedar lodges. This year, 16 pitches have been upgraded from super to superior, with a patio, low-smoke fire pit, picnic bench and bird table.

On-site, facilities include a shop that stocks daily essentials and fresh bakery items. There are two spotlessly clean amenities blocks with 15 private shower rooms, two dishwashing areas and launderettes, as well as hot food options that are available seven nights a week.

In the information room, you can find a pool table, 42-inch TV, book exchange and sofas, while you also have the option of hiring a fire pit.

During 2022, plans are also in place to add two electric hot tubs for glamping accommodation, overhaul the Wi-Fi and renewed efforts to cut plastic waste.

Located on the edge of a wood a few hundred yards from Chew Valley Lake, this adults-only park has fully serviced and hardstanding pitches, all offering electric hook-up. There are individual luxury heated toilet and shower facilities, and a utility room for laundry. In the nearby village of Bishop Sutton, you’ll find shops and a pub with a restaurant. Chew Valley Lake is famous for wildfowl and migrating birds. Fly fishing is available. The park is a good base for exploring Bristol, Bath, Cheddar Gorge and Wells.

The on-site facilities include five-star shower blocks and the Little Shop, where you can pick up all of those day-to-day essentials without going far. On the edge of Salisbury Plain near the village of Orcheston, only 3.5 miles from Stonehenge, this is a great base for exploring a truly historic landscape. The park has 12 hardstanding touring pitches, a heated toilet and shower block, family room with disabled access, a play area, a dishwashing zone and a well-stocked shop. Fire pits and chiminea are available for hire. Dogs are welcome at the site, but must be kept on leads. Nearby pubs include the Rose & Crown, in Tilshead, and The Plume of Feathers, in Shrewton.

This adults-only park is set in eight acres in the wooded valley of the River Tone, not far from Exmoor National Park. The site’s 42 all-weather pitches are divided by plant and shrub screening. There are riverside walks and the woods have been developed to encourage owls, otters, deer, butterflies and insects. The heated shower and toilet blocks are in a barn, which also houses an information point, library, washing-up and laundry area. Dogs are welcome and have a dedicated exercise zone.
