The term ‘restoration’ clearly means different things to different people, as this restoration of a 1965 Serro Scotty Sportsman clearly shows.

The ‘van was in a pretty poor state both inside and out when purchased by ‘van fan “imakethenews” and his girlfriend, as can be seen in the extensive photo gallery of the project.

The restoration essentially involved stripping the van down to its chassis though, then rebuilding it more or less from scratch — the chassis, window and doorframes, and aluminium skin seem to be the only original parts that were reused.

The finished ‘van is an impressive piece of work though, and the photo gallery is well worth a look — as are the other restorations shown at the US National Serro Scotty enthusiast’s site.
