It’s rare for a week to go by without a new privacy risk or security hole being discovered on the internet, which is why it’s important to the best practice for using web sites safely, how to choose secure passwords and how to spot the telltale signs that something on a web site is amiss.
Google agrees, which is why it’s set up a new site called Good to Know that provides practical advice on how to stay safe online.
The site uses video to deliver its internet nuggets and covers everything from coming with passwords that are hard to guess to explaining how certain web sites remember your name between visits.
Google’s own services obviously feature heavily, but since they’re very widely used, it pays to understand how to use them safely.
If nothing else, Good to Know will at least explain how to see all of the information has collected about you from your use of its various services — and it even shows how to delete it.
