Android smartphone users can now make use of the ITV catch-up service, thanks to a free app that was recently released.
Once installed from the Android Market, ITV Player offers a similar set of features to the BBC iPlayer app and you can watch programmes from all four ITV channels that were broadcast within the last 30 days.

Unlike the main ITVPlayer web site though, there doesn’t appear to be any way to watch programmes live. There are also some gaps in the available programme line-up, but it’s still a useful free app to have for those times when you’re away from a TV, but near a Wi-Fi hotspot — just don’t be tempted to use it over 3G unless you want to use up your monthly data allowance…
