Timed perfectly to coincide with the Xmas shopping spree, Halfords has rolled out a new mobile version of its web site for shopping on the move.

Halfords’ old mobile site, accessed via www.halfords.com using a smartphone or mobile phone web browser, only offered product information and the option to reserve an item for pick-up at a local store.

The new site, on the other hand, offers the same shopping options as the main Halfords web site, which include delivery to a home or work address. The site also provides customer reviews, and both comparison and filtering options for products, plus the option to buy using PayPal.

Halfords’ mobile site has also been tweaked to make it easier to use on a small smartphone screen. The previous site had a few problems showing search results, but the tiny text links of old have now been replaced with large, clear categories that are far easier to prod with a fingertip.

Chris Corbin at Halfords said: “More and more of our customers are accessing our site via mobile and we want them to have the same experience as they have from a computer. Smartphones point to how trends in shopping habits are changing fast.”
