We rather liked the Hyundai i30 Estate when we tested it a few years ago, since it offered a spacious boot and low running costs.

Unfortunately, the Practical Caravan’s limited testing facilities meant that we weren’t able to establish how well the car interior coped with an attack from wild baboons, but Hyundai has thankfully (if somewhat tardily) come to our assistance.

This unorthodox test of the New Generation i30 at Knowsley Safari Park is intended is intended to simulate the kind of treatment a typical family car gets from adults and children alike as Felicity Wood, i30 Product Manager at Hyundai, explained: “At Hyundai we believe in new thinking, which is why we decided to take a new approach with this durability test. You have to be pretty brave to subject a car to the most rigorous quality testers in the world, and the monkeys certainly gave our New Generation i30 a thorough examination!”

We’ll leave you to find out how the new i30 fared by watching Hyundai’s video…
