YouTube has introduced a number of enhancement tools that can be automatically applied to uploaded videos to improve their picture quality.

Camera shake can be compensated for, as can video that’s too dark, with a side-by-side before/after comparison showing how successful the enhancements are. Better still, the improvements can be undone at any time, so the original video is always preserved.

These automatic enhancement features complement the more customisable video editor that YouTube made available last year. This offers finer control over video stabilisation, video rotation, colour adjustment and a range of special effects.

Both automatic and manual video editing features become available when a video is uploaded — more details at the YouTube blog.
