We know that when many of you pick where to pitch on your caravan holidays, you take care to reduce your impact on the environment by selecting a site with green credentials.

So, in our annual Top 100 Sites Guide – produced in association with Bailey – we highlight and commend measures taken by parks and their wardens to promote environmentally sensitive touring.

Plus, each year, one site receives our ‘Best Green Site’ accolade.

Which site is 2018’s winner?

We are delighted to share that the lucky site this year is Royal Vale Caravan Park near Knutsford in Cheshire.

Having a clearly advertised ‘Environmental Policy and Code for Visitors’ on its website underlines the park’s commitment to protecting and enhancing the natural world.

Indeed, the website says the aim is to create “an environmental ‘safe haven'”.

The park owners and visitors are encouraged to conserve energy, re-use items and make use of the site’s can, paper and bottle recycling facilities.

In addition, wild flowers and trees have been planted to attract wildlife, and hedges established to provide homes for nesting birds.

What facilities does our best green site have?

It’s not just birds and animals that are well-catered for at Royal Vale Caravan Park – after all, you voted it into our Top 100 Sites Guide 2018!

This open-all-year, adults-only site has 52 hardstanding, all-weather pitches all of which have 16A electric hook-up, water and waste connections.

When voting for the park, you praised the centrally heated washblocks, one reader describing them as ‘first class’, and you’ll also be able to enjoy free Wi-Fi.
