I am with Raywood on this, In winter we will probably go out at about 11am, and be back at maybe 3 pm, if I leave our heating on at say 17c then it will take maybe 5 minutes to get up to 20c. I am paying for electric hook up and use it , if the sites were to charge for what you use it may be different. And I do know a few that use a card for hookup, but I like a warm caravan. :P

We have our Buccaneer on a winter seasonal pitch, and the Smart Control is brilliant for that. It means we can turn the heating on before we start out 3 hour drive and it is lovely and warm on arrival.

Now that's different to going out for the day, I can see the use of it then.

The difference is yours was fitted as standard to the van, you have to ask yourself if it didnt would you spend over £400 to be able to switch it on remotely?

Our friend uses it in their Baily unicorn and it works well.

Hi Prof,
I'm with you on this one !.We have the capability to control caravan heating and lighting remotely but have never set up the system to do this.
Like you we don't see the need and consider it just a gimmick that looks good but in reality for us is useless and we'll never use it.
