CARTREF IS CLOSE to the Welsh border, just a short drive from Shrewsbury in Shropshire. As well as the on-site bar and new food cart, the site has a fire pit, a children’s play area and an adults-only zone.

Those who have felt robbed of the pleasure of stay here in the first half of 2020 will be pleased to learn the site will stay open until 31 January 2021, including over Christmas and New Year.

Time spent waiting to open has not been wasted. The site has built a new feature, The Shed, which it describes as a food cart, offering breakfast baps, cream teas, pies, burgers and pizzas for pre-ordering. The park also has a welcoming bar with a new log-burner – cosy if you’ve booked for a winter stay – offering hot and cold drinks and snacks, and the Wednesday night special, ‘Something and a pint” for £10.

“We’ve built a new reception and shop for easier access, while adding screens to help protect staff and visitors,”, says Luke from Cartref. “We implemented a one-way system around the facilities, and invested in a fogging machine and more rigorous cleaning. And we have ordered a new marquee to sit alongside our bar.”
