THERE ARE ONLY two models of Laser in the Coachman line-up for 2012, but apart from sharing layouts with last year’s 640/4 and 655/6, pretty much everything else has changed.

In both cases, the striking new body treatment from the Pastiche and VIP models has been carried across although the Laser is the only Coachman range to be fitted with the Alde wet-central heating system.

Outside, the dramatic front end with large windows, a wide front sunroof and one-piece aluminium sidewalls mark out the Lasers as caravans with real presence.

Inside, the ‘walnut’ finish woodwork is the same as the VIP and range-wide upgrades include the electric hotplate on the cooker, pull-out centre chest and redesigned kitchens which better use the available space. New soft furnishings, subtle LED lighting and a smart digital control panel for the caravan systems are all impressive. Weights and prices are unavailable at the time of writing but the former at least, are promised to better last year’s models.

Practical Caravan Verdict

Imposing, impressive and hugely desirable, the Laser range look caravans with a cutting edge for 2012.
