It’s almost 50 years since Adria first entered the UK market, and since then it’s built up a network of 30 dealerships and 90 service centres, to become one of Britain’s leading caravan manufacturers.

The Slovenian firm’s success goes way beyond our borders, too, with 500 dealerships across Europe. Building on a bumper 2018 season, 2019 saw a £450m turnover and production of some 16,000 units. In the past year, the company has also won a string of awards, but as was clear at the recent launch of its 2020 caravan range, the one that it was most proud of was our Owner Satisfaction Gold Award for best manufacturer.

Customer service is clearly important to the company, which offers a two-year general warranty and 10-year water-ingress warranty across all of its caravan ranges.

Innovative design and advanced production methods are part of the firm’s mantra for supplying quality leisure vehicles for year-round use.

Its aim is to attract new customers with contemporary, high-quality caravans and among its claims are tourers with the largest panoramic windows on the market.

So what’s new for the 2020 season? Across the ranges, sofas are longer, curtains are filled out with more material and kitchens have become ‘Smart’, with an integrated hob and sink. Microwaves are included as standard. New foam Luxe mattresses now adorn the beds, with removable, washable covers that offer protection against bacteria and static.

Alpina

The flagship Alpina range replaces its two layouts with new versions that include a twin-axle. Both have awning rails on each side of the van and include the new ‘monoblok’ three-burner gas hob and integrated sink. And both also offer a massive 300kg payload, with a MiRO of 1610kg and MTPLM of 2000kg.

The 2020 transverse-island-bed model, the Alpina 623 UT Mississippi, replaces the 2019 613 UC Missouri with a price hike of £500. It’s slimmer than its predecessor, at a total width of 2.31m, as opposed to 2.46m. The midships washroom moves to the back of the van, for more living space.

The twin-bed Alpina 623 UL Colorado replaces the 613 Colorado, takes on a twin-axle and gets slimmer. It sees a price hike of £1000. Both come with a choice of two upholsteries – Pommery or Leather Mathisse – and are marketed as best for all-year touring.

Altea

The entry-level Altea range has dropped its predominantly family-van status and been completely redesigned, with four new floorplans: the two-berth Aire has an open-plan layout and end-washroom; the four-berth Dart, which replaces the Trent, has a longitudinal island-bed and a midships washroom split across the gangway; the six-berth Avon, replacing the Severn, has bunks and a longer body; and the four-berth twin-axle Tyne has an end-washroom.

Among the features grabbing attention are Smart kitchens, with a Thetford 142-litre fridge and integrated 15-litre freezer, and a monoblok hob and sink, soft-close drawers.

Also appealing are the upgraded electrics and control panel, storage solutions that include a rack/hook system for notes and keys, innovative lighting, cool blue interior styling, and TV points and USB sockets in living and bedroom areas.

Prices start at £19,395 for the two-berth Aire and go up to £20,195 for the six-berth Dart.

Prices have risen £200-£1500 for the mid-range Adora and £200 for the Action, which have both had furnishing tweaks.
