Crusader celebrates its 35th year in 2011 and it does it in some style, with big kit improvements and a refreshed interior.
Elddis has focused the range, dropping it from ten layouts to eight for 2011. Three layouts that go are the end washroom two-berth Hurricane, nearside fixed bed Aurora and the old version of the Supercyclone. The latter re-emerges as a fixed single bed tourer with a rear rather than centre washroom. The Mistral island bed model is set for a revamp but the layout is yet to be confirmed.
Specification improvements are numerous. Alde heating is included for the first time on Crusader single and twin axle models. Shock absorbers, BPW Diamond wheel locks and IDC stability control system are standard for the first time, bringing the specification into line with rivals.
Inside, a darker, more detailed wood finish and improved worktops help lift the interiors. More LED lighting and no-cost option to delete the privacy glass windows will illuminate the interiors.
Deeper lockers and a mains electric hotplate on the cooker are desirable, practical improvements.
Like all Elddis caravans, Crusader meets the standard for Grade III thermal insulation for the first time. Essentially it certifies that the caravans are usable all year around.
The list of upgrades is unquestionably big but inevitably, prices have risen sharply.
