You don't want to miss our latest TV show, as we review two brand new, 2015 caravans, put our long term VW Tiguan to the test, get some expert advice and enjoy a holiday in the Malverns. So don't forget to tune in to The Caravan Channel on Freesat 402, Sky 192 or watch live online. This show is broadcast 10 times across two weeks, starting at 8pm on Monday 29 September, running until the 10.30am showing on Sunday 12 October (please see below for full listings).
We kick off with a new van review, as Practical Caravan's Group Editor Alastair Clements gets inside the new for 2015 Coachman Pastiche 460/2. This two-berth, £19,645 caravan is certainly well kitted out, with an external gas barbecue point and an outlet for the Truma combi blown air heating, so you can warm your awning. Inside, there’s a high end feel, with a big, panoramic front window that’s fitted as standard, plus a large rooflight. And despite being slightly narrower than its predecessor, the space is good and the sofas convert into a well proportioned double bed. The kitchen, with a separate oven and grill, has smart, modern touches including chic, square taps, and the washroom feels spacious for a caravan of this size. Tune in to see our full 2015 Coachman Pastiche 460/2 review.
Also in our latest TV show, our tow car expert David Motton is behind the wheel of Practical Caravan’s long term, 177PS Volkswagen Tiguan, the most powerful of the three diesels in the range, with 280lb ft torque to call on, an automatic (DSG) gearbox and four-wheel drive. Motty’s impressed by its power and the DSG’s 50.4mpg official combined fuel economy figure, as well as its fuel sipping abilities when towing. In fact, this is a super all-rounder, even if the cabin is now feeling a little dated. Get inside the Tiguan and see his full review only in our TV show on The Caravan Channel, on Sky 192 and on Freesat 402 – or you can watch live online.
You can then join Practical Caravan’s Alastair and his family on a bargain British break in the Malvern Hills, staying in a Bailey Pursuit, towed by a Mercedes-Benz M-Class. They’ve pitched at The Camping and Caravanning Club’s Blackmore site, a dog and family friendly campsite that is open for both members and non members – and there’s an on site fish and chip shop, open three days a week.
Alastair is keen to get out and see the local area, and even with kids or if you have limited mobility, you can still get out and drink in the spectacular views this region has to offer. They also visit the small town of Upton-upon-Severn, with quaint streets, enticing pubs and a very tempting, traditional sweet shop – and you can join them on the river for a spot of canoeing.
In this TV show you'll also get to see a second new caravan, as our Alastair looks round a new Adria Altea, a range that’s part of the Slovenian company’s 50th birthday celebrations. Here we review the Adria Altea 552DT Tamar, an entry-level, family tourer with a very flexible layout. Storage in the kitchen area particularly impresses, the soft-close draws in an entry-level van a thoughtful touch. You can seat five in the lounge and six can sleep in this caravan – and even a seventh berth is an option. See how everyone fits into this great, no nonsense Adria only in our TV show on The Caravan Channel.
Finally, we've got some expert caravan advice. John Wickersham is here to talk about the Al-Ko ATC Trailer Control. He’s at the ALKO headquarters to learn how the company can retrofit this system to your van, talking us through the whole installation process.
