Get set for your caravan holidays in 2015 with our latest TV show, featuring our expert towing masterclass, travel inspiration, caravan reviews and more

Our brand new TV show, broadcast exclusively on The Caravan Channel, which you will find on Sky 192 and Freesat 402 (look for Showcase), and also live online, starts with a compelling case for considering a non British caravan. Practical Caravan’s Group Editor Alastair Clements casts his eye over a Hymer Nova GL 590, a high quality tourer awash with thoughtful design touches. In terms of kit, this 2015 590 has the popular transverse island bed, end washroom layout, as well as a very generously proportioned, U-shaped front lounge which converts into a good sized double. Food preparation space in the kitchen is, however, in short supply, but the tower fridge/freezer is more than large enough and there’s a separate oven and grill. You’ll need a big SUV to pull this nearly £30,000 van, but if you can afford and tow it, we definitely think it’s worth considering – tune in for our full Hymer Nova GL 590 review.

Then our Tow Car Editor David Motton is putting a Ford C-Max EcoBoost through its paces in his tough tow car test, to discover what tow car potential a small engined, petrol powered MPV has. It’s also quite a light car, its 1391kg kerbweight making it a match only for smaller tourers, such as the 900kg Eriba used during our test. The C-Max proved to be a stable tow car and on a damp track remained unflustered, even when pushed. However, its lack of power in the mid range means progress on tow is sedate. Watch our TV show for his full verdict.

In our latest show you can also join Practical Caravan’s Bryony Symes on tour, who's chosen to visit Bath for some rest and relaxation. She’s pitched at Bath Marina and Caravan Park just outside the city, from where she explores Bath’s beautiful architecture, Bath Abbey and the world famous Roman baths. A compact city, Bath is a great destination for a weekend break in your van, as you can find out in our TV show on Sky 192, Freesat 402 and online.

Now, are you checking out the used caravans for sale in search of a new tourer? Then John Wickersham is your man. He’s looking at a 17-year old, five-berth Swift Challenger 490 SE that could be yours for under £4500. Discover the differences between this and a new van as John walks us round and takes us in this Swift, with helpful hints along the way. This might help you enjoy caravan holidays without breaking the bank.

Then it’s time for our fourth and final towing masterclass. Motty’s back with top tips to help you perfect reversing your van, so you pitch like a pro. Whether you are new to caravanning or you want to brush up on your skills ahead of your holidays, his expert advice will help you on your way.

This episode of our TV show will be broadcast between Monday 2 March and Sunday 15 March 2015, at these times, on these days:

  • Monday at 8pm
  • Wednesday at 5pm
  • Thursday at 5.30am
