The growth of Marquis Leisure, already the UK’s largest caravan and motorhome dealer network, continues apace as the group has now created its 12th depot by taking over Surrey-based Michael Jordan Caravans.

The Bailey and Swift caravan and motorhome dealer has built up a considerable reputation over the years from its seven-acre site, located in Gomshall, between Dorking and Guildford.

Indeed, we at Practical Caravan have often used vans from this dealer during our tow car tests.

Michael Jordan Caravans, which claims to be the largest caravan retailer in the south of England, will become Marquis Surrey from the beginning of September, with a grand opening event planned for later in the year.

Expansion plans

Marquis Leisure has plans to expand the existing 12-bay workshop and customer service area at the Surrey site.

Earlier this year, Marquis was fully acquired by the France-based Trigano Group, and Marquis management says having such backing has helped it continue to expand.

Marquis Leisure Managing Director Mike Crouch said: “Michael Jordan is a reputable business currently selling top UK caravan and motorhome brands Swift and Bailey.

“The extensive site will enable Marquis to further enhance the display of new and used stock from franchises within the Marquis stable.”

Brands Marquis already sells that are exclusive to it include Caravelair caravans and, in the world of motorhomes, Benimar and Mobilvetta.

Of course, Michael Jordan is a long-established new and used caravan and motorhome dealer, with over five decades of experience, and it is known for its Expression line of dealer-special tourers.

As Marquis Leisure also has its own, Swift-based Lifestyle range of dealer special caravans, expect these to arrive at the Surrey site from September.

Marquis Leisure has branches in neighbouring counties East Sussex and Hampshire, not forgetting Marquis Berkshire and Surrey near Newbury, as well as other locations up and down the UK, including County Durham, Northamptonshire and South Yorkshire.
