If you want to know which is the best-value new car on sale at the moment, this could well be it. The Dacia Jogger offers space, seven seats and bucketloads of equipment, all for the price of a bog-standard supermini. Dacia is well known for its budget cars (and see our best budget tow car guide for more ideas here), but the brand has really excelled itself with the new Jogger TCe 110 Expression.

Prices start from £16,645 for Essential spec, but the Expression model we’ve been driving strikes an even better balance between price and kit. It comes with climate control, smartphone mirroring, cruise control, a rear parking camera, and reach adjustment for the steering wheel (the wheel in Essentials only adjusts for height).

What’s quite surprising when you step inside the Jogger is that there really is space for seven, with similar amounts of legroom in the second and third rows. Take out seats six and seven and your MPV turns into a roomy estate car.

Although the Jogger is light and has a low towing limit of 1200kg, the willing 1.0-litre engine should comfortably pull a lightweight tourer. We’re trying to persuade Dacia to put a towball on one, so that we can give it a more thorough test.
