Legendary motorcaravan manufacturer Auto Sleepers has confirmed it will market a range of touring caravans for the first time in 2011.
The Cotswold-based coachbuilder celebrates its fiftieth birthday in 2011 but has decided that now is the time to launch a high quality caravan, inspired by the brand ideals that have preserved Auto Sleepers for the last 49 years.
Auto Sleepers CEO Geoff Scott (pictured) explained the thinking behind the decision.
‘We had feedback from customers going from motorhomes to a tourer. We weren’t in the market but wanted to keep those customers and they wanted to stay in an Auto Sleeper product. The dealer network was convinced and supportive too and felt there was a gap in the market for the discerning customer. They are exactly the sort of customer we sell motorhomes too.’
The tourers will be badged as ‘AS Caravans’ and will be sold through the three Marquis Caravans dealerships. There are no plans to sell the high-specification tourers through other dealers. The first models will arrive on the dealer sites in early October and three floorplans on display at the NEC show. A fourth floorplan will appear by February.
Geoff Scott explained that there is real excitement about the project within the company.
‘It’s the 50th anniversary of Auto Sleepers next year and it’s a nice way to celebrate. We have real drive and passion for this project within the business’
