This is an exciting time of year for us caravan owners, as we get ready to plan our summer tours and the destinations that we’d love to explore. There’s a lot to think about, though, so here are our four top tips to help you get the very best from your touring season…

  • Tip 1 – Prepare your unit

Get your caravan in tip-top condition. If it’s been in storage, now’s the perfect time to give it a once-over to ensure that all the electrical and gas appliances work safely, and that all of the running gear is in fine working order.

  • Tip 2 – Plan your calendar

Make a list of where you’d like to visit this year, and investigate the best month to go there. The South Devon coast is a brilliant place to enjoy the summer sun, for example – July or August are great times to visit, and you can pitch up at the Camping and Caravanning Club’s California Cross Club Site, which enjoys a local shop next door, serving and selling seasonal, locally produced food.

  • Tip 3 – Cost up your trip

Work out your budget, and stick to it – things are expensive for everyone at the moment, so it pays to know how much you have to spend, to allow you to get the most for your money.

  • Tip 4 – Select your location

Finally, find the perfect campsite. There are thousands of campsites in the UK, and of course some are much better than others – it’s important to choose one that you can rely on.

Enjoy great locations and great savings

And the last one is where The Camping and Caravanning Club can really help.

It was born back in 1901 and since then has grown to encompass sites across the UK, all of which offer a guaranteed level of standards, and friendly, expert staff who are committed to helping you have a brilliant holiday.

You don’t need to be a member, either, but joining will help you keep costs down – with prices starting at just £48 for a year’s family annual membership, you’ll be able to access a whole raft of savings and discounts during the summer months, leaving you more money to spend on souvenirs and days out.

And that’s not all – Club membership also gives you the following:

  • A 30% member saving on all Club Site pitch fees
  • More than 1200 member-exclusive campsites to stay at
  • Extra savings throughout the year on top of your membership discount, including a 35% discount at 15 Club sites in July and August*
  • An extra 25% off for the over-60s with the Club’s Age Concession Rate
  • 20% off stays in Ready Camp safari-style tents and self-catering accommodation
  • Up to 50% on selected Eurocamp parcs
  • Top prices on ferry crossings and Eurotunnel
  • Discounts with retailers, on days out and attractions
