New and used vans, charming Devon and more in our 20th TV show

The sun is shining and with good reason – it’s time for our 20th TV show on The Caravan Channel. As ever, we have a packed programme for you. So, what’s in store for our special, 20th show? We hope you’ll be pleased to hear that we have two caravan reviews, one new and one used, so if you’re looking at caravans for sale, we hope there might be something to tempt you.

Let’s start with the new and Andy Jenkinson is reviewing the Bailey Unicorn Cartagena. This is a twin-axle, four-berth caravan that’s great for couples with its transverse, central, island bed that has plenty of space around it, allowing you to move easily around the van. It’s also bright and airy inside with a large front window and a sunroof. Plus it has an L-shaped kitchen, a full oven with a dual fuel hob, a snazzy drinks cabinet, a Dometic fridge/freezer and a stainless steel microwave. And that’s not all – Andy was very impressed by the Bailey’s well equipped rear washroom with ample storage options.

Perusing the used caravans for sale? Then don’t miss caravan expert John Wickersham’s review of a 10-year old Elddis Avanté 482 in our latest TV programme. In this episode, John’s also on hand with advice on repairing caravan floors. Filmed live at the Practical Caravan Reader Rally last month, John gives an insight into how caravan floors are constructed, what can go wrong and how some problems can be remedied.

But if your tourer is in fine fettle and you’re just after a little light inspiration for your caravan holidays, never fear as our Claudia is here. In this TV show, Practical Caravan’s Claudia Dowell heads for a caravan holiday in Devon, towing a Swift tourer with a SsangYong Rexton W, and she visits two lovely but very different campsites.

Her first stop is Stowford Farm Meadows in pretty North Devon, a big campsite with tonnes of family entertainment. In fact, it has 800 pitches, 300 for seasonal tourers. But its size doesn’t mean it is lacking in thoughtful touches. Croissants are baked daily at this family- and dog-friendly campsite, plus there is a takeaway, two bars, an outside play area, an indoor pool, a petting zoo, crazy golf, a riding stables, a day kennels/dog crèche, an on-site dealership – and more!

In contrast, Claudia also visits nearby Newberry Valley Touring & Camping Park. Like Stowford Farm Meadows, this is set in the gorgeous, rolling countryside of North Devon close to Combe Martin, but with just 110 pitches, Newberry Valley is a different style of campsite. In a sheltered valley a mere five-minute walk from the beach, it has large pitches, some grass, some hardstanding, all with electric hook-up. There are also spacious, individual shower rooms and, as this campsite is popular with surfers, there is a wet suit washing area – and a hose to wash your dog, too. With flowering shrubs, a fishing lake, a children’s adventure play area and an ancient woodland, this is a delightful setting for your caravan holidays in Devon.
