The reborn Compass ranges – Corona, Omega and Rallye – each feature four of the most popular floor plans available today and will significantly increase options for buyers.

Elddis has relaunched the marque it discontinued in 2009 because it believes there isn’t enough choice in the market, and this will be addressed by increasing the number of brands and models to choose from.

Compass vans differ from their Elddis stablemates in several ways, as the Practical Caravan range review reveals. All Compass models sit on an Al-Ko rather than BPW chassis, and will not be sold through Elddis retailers. Instead, a dealer network is being built from scratch. This will allow Compass to grow a discrete market share from Elddis, although its caravans retain benefits offered by its parent company, such as a 10-year body warranty.

Four models will be available in the entry-level Compass Corona range. All sit on Al-Ko chassis with shock absorbers and wheel lock receivers. Sidewalls have smart blue-and-grey graphics. The light-toned cabinet work sports handles with a brushed finish, and there are stainless-steel facings for the sink, microwave, hob, oven and fridge door.

Practical Caravan says…

“Priced the same as the Elddis Avanté, from £15,499-£16,999, the four Compass Coronas certainly provide more options for people shopping for popular layouts.

“Specification-wise, they have several points of difference from their parent brand’s offerings, most notably the Al-Ko chassis with shock absorbers, and the interiors are bright and airy with a pleasant ambience.

“To our eyes, however, Corona still looks very much like an Elddis product – inside and out. This may not matter to buyers, though, who may just like what they see at a price they’re prepared to pay.”
