A new Airstream caravan with a design that aims to suit all markets, not just either the USA or Europe, has gone on display at Lowdhams Leisureworld near Nottingham – and two more similar models could be on their way.
The 7.21m-long World Traveler 22RB has also been designed to come in at a considerably lower price point than the Airstream models Lowdhams has previously imported in its role as the UK distributor for the American brand.
The single axle tourer could appeal to those on the hunt for the best four berth caravan, and comes with an MTPLM of 2000kg and a MIRO of 1700kg, has gone on sale for £72,995. Models in Airstream’s existing International range cost over £100,000.
The new model retains Airstream’s classic “silver bullet” look on the outside as seen on models such as the Tourer 534, but no longer has a wraparound window across the front to keep costs and weight down.
Inside you get two single beds in a “V” shape up near the front and a dinette across the back. The kitchen includes a drawer fridge and a two-burner hob but no oven, while the side washroom has enough room for a separate shower cubicle.
Overhead lockers will have perspex doors (not cloth as shown in the picture).
There’s a Bluetooth-compatible stereo included, while USB-A and C ports will also be fitted. You also get a 100W caravan solar panel on the roof as standard.
Two more models – both shorter than the Traveler 22RB and with transverse beds – are in the process of being planned for a launch later this year or early next year. One could possibly make its UK debut at the Motorhome and Caravan Show at the NEC in October, although this is yet to be confirmed.
Another brand to be sharing information about its new season releases is Knaus. The manufacturer is releasing a new range of caravans which is designed for caravanning in even the coldest climates. The vans come with a minimalist design and feature both Alde wet central heating and Alde underfloor heating.
