A lightweight caravan designed to keep wind resistance to an absolute minimum and a concept caravan from Europe’s biggest caravan manufacturer were just two of the caravan-based highlights at the 2025 Caravan Salon show in Düsseldorf.
While the show, which this year attracted 269,000 visitors, is traditionally focused on motorhomes, this year there was a higher than usual showing of new tourers for those thinking of buying a caravan.
The Karoo caravan, produced by five-year-old Finnish start-up Karoo, has taken inspiration from automotive design to produce a vehicle with minimal wind resistance but which can also be highly adaptable. The 5.3m-long caravan includes integrated solar panels that help power a 5.1kWh battery.

It also has a pull-out kitchen, a small washroom and shower, a wide entry door down most of one side, and four beds that can be made up from sofas that slide together.
Unlike other caravans that have come and gone at Düsseldorf, this one is already slated for production, with first deliveries due at the start of next year.
Meanwhile, Hobby produced a concept caravan designed to take the Scandinavian-influenced style in its current Maxia range a stage further.

The Concept 830 CE caravan includes a corner kitchen with marble and stone finishes, and integrated magnetic fixtures from Silwy on the table-top, kitchen worktop and splashback and coat-rack shelf that are intended to hold items firmly in place when you are on the move.
Other innovations include the washroom – while large, it does without a shower.
If you didn’t make it to the Düsseldorf show, the good news is there is the Motorhome and Caravan Show coming up, where you will get to see a wide range of vans from the leading caravan manufacturers.
