Holbrook Creek by Malcolm Farrow

In England’s first extension to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) since 1991, the Suffolk Coasts and Heaths AONB has been expanded. The 38sq km extension takes in river valleys, ancient woodland, reed beds, wildlife-rich estuaries, and windswept beaches and includes the Stour Estuary, an internationally important wildlife estuary supporting migrating birds, wildfowl and waders.

The extended area will benefit from funding and a planning policy to help protect and enhance the natural landscape. It will also benefit local businesses and tourist sites who will be able to access relevant grants, including for sustainable tourism.
