Nearly one in three British adults now say they would prefer to stay in a motorhome or caravan rather than a hotel if they have to travel for work, a survey by Auto Trader suggests

The survey of 2,000 adults found that 32% would prefer the motorhome or caravan option, with 27% saying such vehicles would provide an ideal space to work in. Some 9% also thought they would be a great place to self-isolate if they fell ill with suspected Covid-19.

Some 18% felt that employers should provide motorhome or caravan accommodation if staff are required to travel for work, and 16% felt they should contribute towards the cost of buying a vehicle for such a purpose.

Overall, 48% said they would not be comfortable travelling for work right now unless they could travel in their own vehicle and stay in their own accommodation.

Some 50% said they would now be more likely to raise such a question with their employers.

Auto Trader’s Rory Reid said, “Businesses need to adapt to a greater need for safety when sending employees to travel and stay overnight for work.”
