We are back with a brand new TV show on The Caravan Channel – and this time it is a Tow Car Awards special! So if you’re wondering what tow car to buy next and you want the best advice on choosing your next tow car, you won’t want to miss it.

Tune in on Sky 192, Freesat 402 or live online on the Information TV website between Monday 7 July and Sunday 20 July 2014 to join Practical Caravan behind the scenes at the glitzy Tow Car Awards ceremony at Woburn Abbey’s Sculpture Gallery. Once again we’ve teamed up with colleagues at What Car? and The Camping and Caravanning Club to bring you the largest and, we feel, the most thorough tow car testing programme in the country.

The epic Tow Car Awards test week earlier this year saw 56 tow cars put through their paces – more cars than ever before – making this the biggest year since the awards began back in 2007. We also launched a brand new Tow Car Awards website, giving you not just the results of the 2014 test, but also pulling all the data we’ve captured into one place, to make tow car shopping easier for you than ever before.

Indeed, Practical Caravan’s expert Tow Car Editor David Motton speaks to Paul Jones of The Camping and Caravanning Club in our latest TV show about precisely why the Tow Car Awards is so useful for caravanners. It’s the “most robust and credible tow car awards out there,” in Paul’s opinion, giving invaluable insight and buying confidence to those shopping for both new and used tow cars, thanks to the brand new website.

With cars tested priced from just under £11,000 to in excess of £75,000, and ranging from small hatchbacks and estates to 4x4s and MPVs, there’s something for every caravanner in our Tow Car Awards. Watch our show to find out how we tested all 56 cars at the MIRA proving ground, towing Swift Group tourers, together with our colleagues at What Car? and The Camping and Caravanning Club.

And there is more from this year’s awards in our latest TV show on The Caravan Channel, as 2014 has also been an interesting year in the Tow Car Awards for hybrid vehicles. For the first time, two plug-in hybrids have been put through our exhaustive test regime, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and the Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid. Don’t miss our TV show to discover why our Motty thinks the Volvo is an exceptional car for towing your caravan, even if there are a few compromises to be made.

In addition, Motty has an exclusive interview with Land Rover’s Product Planning Manager as the Land Rover Discovery and Range Rover Sport achieve success once more in our Tow Car Awards, and he speaks to Rachael Gregory, Nissan’s Qashqai Product Manager, about 2014’s overall winner. Of course, we also have a rundown of all this year’s winners – and to read the full test reports, remember you can visit the brand new Tow Car Awards website.

Practical Caravan’s TV shows are produced by the editorial team in conjunction with colleagues at Information TV. The programmes are broadcast on Sky 192 and on Freesat 402, or you can watch live online on Information TV’s website.
