The authors of a book on classic caravans added a touch of touring glamour to the ‘Vintage at Goodwood’ festival in August.
Jane Field-Lewis and Chris Haddon wrote the book My Cool Caravan and were approached to bring some cutting-edge caravan culture to the West Sussex location. At the request of Goodwood, Jane and Chris arranged a display of 38 ‘cool caravans’ from the 1940s to the 1980s at the festival.
Chris commented: “The feedback from the caravan owners is extremely positive and all enjoyed waxing lyrical to the public about the virtues of cool caravanning”.
Some of the caravans on display included Carlights, Cheltenhams, Eribas, Airstreams and a very rare 1940s Coventry Knight.
“It was an amazing visual spectacle and great exposure for My Cool Caravan,” said Jane. “All we can say is bring on Vintage at Goodwood 2011.”
The Vintage festival covers music, design, art and fashion spanning five decades at Goodwood, West Sussex, and took place between August 13 and 15.
My Cool Caravan is a book and website especially for caravanners who aren’t content with an off-the-shelf tourer. Fans of the site send in their images of stylish older caravans they have customised to suit their tastes.
