Bailey Caravans has announced an all-new range. The all new Retreat line-up debuts at the Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show at London’s ExCeL centre in February, but Practical Caravan is delighted to have the first details.

Retreat models are over 8m long but built using Bailey’s Alu-Tech bodyshell

The Retreat range is completely new. It sits alongside the current Bailey model ranges, but is not designed to compete against anything else in the touring market. The Retreat is not a touring caravan range. It is too long to be towed by a car or even a light commercial vehicle. Tow vehicles must have a gross weight in excess of 3500Kg to be within the law. This means that for the vast majority of buyers, there is no alternative but to have the Retreat sited professionally.

Seasonal greetings

The new models are designed for use on a seasonal pitch. Customers pay for the caravan themselves but depending on which dealer supplies it, there may be subsequent transport costs to pay. Once on a pitch, it functions in the same way as a touring caravan. Although Retreat models will have inboard water tanks and super pitch connectors, drainage and toilet operation remain in-line with touring caravan norms, rather than being plumbed into the pitch as with a ‘static’ caravan holiday home.

Retreat yourself

As already stated, the new models will appear for the first time at the London show. Prices are as yet unannounced although Bailey is hopeful of keeping the costs adjacent to the top end of the conventional touring caravan market, which would put models somewhere below £25000.
