Camping in the Forest will not be opening its 16 sites on Forestry Commission land until 2021, despite the easing of lockdown restrictions, for ‘safety, operational and financial’ reasons

The organisation was born out of a partnership with the Camping and Caravanning Club, Forestry England and Forestry and Land Scotland. Ten of its sites are in the New Forest, and Forestry England and local businesses want Camping in the Forest to change its mind. Local concerns include the impact of illegal wild camping by visitors and a loss of income for local businesses who depend on the visitor economy.

Forestry England has urged the company to reconsider and has offered a deferral of rent payment to get the sites open.

The Camping in the Forest website is referring its visitors to the Camping and Caravanning Club website for pitch bookings in 2020.
