We know how much Practical Caravan readers love their pets – many of you take your dog (or even your cat) on tour with you.

After all, they’re a much-loved member of the family, too – it’s their holiday as much as yours.

Superb sites for caravanning pets

Fortunately, the UK has some fantastically pet-friendly sites to visit.

If you’re touring in popular Cornwall, try Blue Hills Touring Park, where your canine friend will be made very welcome.

There’s a fantastic dog-walking field on site, and a dog-friendly beach in easy reach.

If, on the other hand, you are holidaying in Yorkshire, take a look at Bridlington Caravan and Motorhome Club site.

As well as a dog-walking area, there’s a dog-wash too – perfect for hosing off muddy hounds!

Or perhaps you’re touring Bannau Brycheiniog (the Brecon Beacons National Park).

Check out Cwmdu Campsite – not only are there lots of great walks to enjoy nearby, there’s also a dog wash ready and waiting for you and your pet to return.

Stay safe on tour with your dog

So what else should you know about touring with your dog? Here are our tips on safe and fun travels with your pet:

Under the Highway Code, your dog should be safely restrained in your tow car. A great and comfortable option is to use a harness and seatbelt clip.
Take plenty of old towels – they’re brilliant for drying off damp dogs, and for keeping your tourer’s floor clean.
Always keep your dog on a lead on site, and be sure to pick up any dog poo straight away!
