    Lunar Delta TI 2010

    £20,895

    Published: October 30, 2013

    A great-looking van with a superb kitchen and excellent storage – 9/10

    Pitching & Setting-up

The Delta’s running gear consists of an Al-Ko chassis, AKS stabiliser, buttonless handbrake and 13-pin electrics. Al-Ko ATC is standard. The steadies are easy to access and the waste pipes are located on the offside of the van just behind the axles. A barbecue point, mains socket and a mains water and drainage connection are also provided. The front locker is large and the door opens high on two gas struts for easy access.

The two-piece entrance door has a fly screen and all controls, including those for the Alde heating system, are conveniently located just inside the van.

    Living

Thanks to the new interior styling, the Delta’s lounge feels more open and airy than the 2009 model. Light, home-decor style fabric is complemented by rich wood tones. Worksurfaces in the kitchen and on top of the chest are light as well. Though the colours are light, the van still feels plush. Add the optional leather upholstery for an even more luxurious feel.

The sofas have bolster cushions at each end as well as many scatter cushions. They are firm and comfortable. The lounge also has a radio/CD player and speakers and a directional aerial. The chest extension table slides out, which is useful if you are using this point for the TV. There is also a second TV point by the sideboard opposite the kitchen. Lighting options are good with four LED spotlights, two corner lights and a ceiling light.

    Kitchen

The Delta’s kitchen is a show-stopper. It has it all – excellent equipment, good worksurface and unrivalled storage.

The main kitchen area has the sink and recessed drainer, hob and oven and grill. The 180-litre fridge/freezer is on the nearside of the van, which leaves all the space under the sink and worksurface free for cupboards. There are four – one has wire racks, another has the cutlery drawer and shelves and the third is also shelved. The table is stored in the fourth.

The microwave, as well as the fridge, is housed on the nearside. There is also a small sideboard on this side. The Alde heating system doesn’t have a large unit like the Truma product, which leaves the space under the sideboard free for yet another cupboard. There is also a cocktail cabinet above.

    Washroom

The washroom in the Delta is split in the same way as in the Laser. The nearside washroom, which houses the toilet and basin, is quite tight as it has been compromised to create extra space in the kitchen. Even when the toilet is swivelled there is only 35cm of legroom and the space is narrow because the wheel arch intrudes. However, the dressing table means you’ll spend little time in here.

Despite being small the washroom has a large mirror and a heated towel rail, though the rail is small and mounted close to the wall so it is difficult to use with large towels.

The shower on the offside is large and, as the clear screen faces the corridor not the bedroom, it is more private than the shower in the Laser. It has only one small shelf, though the wheel arch makes a handy ledge for shampoo and conditioner.

    Beds

Six footers will prefer the Delta’s fixed bed as it is 60mm longer than the Laser’s. The mattress is comfortable and two shelves and an LED spotlight are provided for each side.

The best part of this area, however, is the dressing table at the foot of the bed. When you sit on the end of the bed the mirror is at the perfect height, and it pulls forward off the wall to reveal shelves for lotions and potions. There is also a third TV point here.

Slats are provided to make up a double bed in the lounge, although this is not possible with the leather upholstery.

    Storage

There is excellent storage right throughout the Delta. The wardrobes are deep and high, though narrow, and there is a drawer for smalls and a shoe cupboard below each. The fixed bed opens all the way to the ceiling to reveal a cavernous space.

The front lockers in the lounge are small, but by housing the CD player in one it leaves the four larger side lockers free. There is also good space in the under-seat lockers, although the lids are solid and supported by a ratchet system that doesn’t open very high.

The only area where storage is lacking is in the washroom. It has just a small cupboard below the basin and several shelves.
