Jaguar Land Rover has launched an ambitious plan that would see Jaguar making only all-electric cars by 2025. Land Rover aims to bring out six pure electric variants in the next five years, coming on stream in 2024.
Under the Reimagine strategy, all Jaguar and Land Rover nameplates will have electric variants by the end of the decade, and by that time, the company hopes 60% of all Land Rovers being produced will come with zero emissions.
The firm says the strategy, which also sees all production remaining in the UK, will become possible through closer collaboration with its ultimate owner, Tata Group.
It is also pinning its hopes on clean fuel cell power, with what it sees as the maturing hydrogen-based economy. It says hydrogen prototypes will be on UK roads in the next 12 months, part of an investment scheme worth £2.5billion a year.
